Nettoløn

How to use it — the 2-minute guide Tax year 2026

Fill it top to bottom. Skip anything that isn't you.

Nettoløn works down the page in four short steps. Every question is a simple Yes / No — tap Yes only when it applies to you, and the fields appear underneath. Nothing you type ever leaves your browser.

This page shows exactly what each step asks and where the newer bits live, so you don't hunt around.

1

Your income

Start here. The only thing you truly need is your salary and municipality — everything else is optional.

Always fill these
Salary
Enter it either as a yearly or monthly figure — the tool keeps both in sync. Use your full gross (before tax and before any pension is taken out).
Municipality kommune
Pick from the list. This sets your local tax rate and, if you're a church member, your church rate — both filled automatically.
Full-time employee (ATP)
Leave ticked if you're a regular employee — adds the small ATP contribution (1,188 kr/yr), which is deducted before AM-bidrag.
Tap Yes only if it applies
Bonus / commission
Fixed or variable — total you expect for the year. Also covers holiday supplement, extra payouts and unpaid-leave months. All taxed like salary.
Self-employment income overskud
Advanced. Your net freelance/sole-proprietor profit — you pay the 8% AM-bidrag on it yourself.
Two important toggles
Member of the Danish Church
Tick if you pay church tax (kirkeskat). The rate is set automatically by your municipality.
Married
Tick to model your spouse and the joint rules (shared allowances, share-income thresholds). This reveals Step 1b below.
Researcher / expat scheme forskerordningen, 27%
Tick if you're on the special 27% flat scheme. The tool then compares it against ordinary tax.
1b

Your spouse's income

This section only appears once you tick Married in Step 1. It mirrors the main income fields for your partner.

Spouse has their own deductions, property or investments? Open a fresh Nettoløn tab, fill it out as them, and copy the relevant totals back here. There's a link inside the tool that does exactly this. A full combined spouse view is on the roadmap.
You both own the home 50/50? In the Property step, enter ownership share 100, not 50 — boligskat is a household tax you're jointly liable for, so the household figure is what counts.
2

Loans, interest & investments

Everything money-related that isn't salary. Each is a Yes/No — skip the ones that aren't you.

Interest on loans
Split into mortgage/realkredit, car, other/consumer and bank. These reduce your tax (negative capital income). Enter the yearly interest, not the repayment.
Interest / other capital income
Bank or bond interest you earn, rental surplus — positive capital income, taxed with your income.
Shares, ETFs & dividends
Dividends and realised gains (aktieindkomst, 27% up to 79,400 kr then 42%), plus an Aktiesparekonto (ASK) field — flat 17%, taxed yearly on value change, deposit cap 174,200 kr.
Rent out your home / room / summer house
Uses the standard bundfradrag method: an allowance, then 60% of the excess taxed as capital income.
Money abroad
Foreign rent, foreign investment income, foreign share gains, and a home abroad (Danish ejendomsværdiskat applies). Foreign tax already paid is credited against the Danish tax.
3

Deductions — quick questions

A run of Yes/No questions. This is where most people leave money on the table, so it's worth a look — but skip freely.

Commute over 12 km each way befordringsfradrag
Enter your one-way km and days worked. Max 34,400 kr/yr.
Green / energy renovations håndværkerfradrag
Labour cost only, max 9,000 kr/person.
Home services servicefradrag
Cleaning, gardening, childcare — labour only, max 18,300 kr/person.
Union dues & A-kasse
Union capped at 7,000 kr; A-kasse uncapped.
Pension — workplace or private the field you were looking for is here
Tap Yes and two fields open. The first, "Workplace pension — your own share", is your part of an employer scheme (e.g. your 5% of a 5+10%) — it's taken out before AM-bidrag, so entering it makes the 8% correct. The second is any private pension you pay yourself (ratepension cap ~63,300 kr).
Charitable donations gavefradrag
Approved charities, max 20,000 kr/yr.
Work travel with overnights rejsefradrag
Meals + lodging per day, max 34,400 kr/yr.
Second home for work dobbelt husførelse
~400 kr/week or your documented cost.
Courses, tools, work clothing
Only your own unreimbursed costs above the 7,300 kr floor.
Child / spousal support
Only the part above the standard normalbidrag.
Extra allowances
Toggles for single parent and senior — tick if either applies.
The one worth double-checking: the pension question. If you have a workplace scheme and leave it out, your take-home comes out a few percent too low — that field is what fixes it.
4

Property tax

Only if you own. Renters skip this entirely.

Address lookup
Type your address for live suggestions from Denmark's official register — it fills the municipality and land rate for you. Or enter the values by hand from vurderingsportalen.dk.
Property valuation ejendomsværdi
The full valuation — the tool automatically uses 80% of it (the 2026 rule).
Land valuation grundværdi
The full land value — again, 80% is used.
Ownership share (%)
Married and both own it? Enter 100. Use a lower % only if a co-owner outside your household holds part.
Grundskyld rate (‰)
Auto-filled from your municipality — override only if your forskudsopgørelse differs.
Bought before 1 Jan 2024?
If yes, you can paste the two rabat lines from your statement for an exact match, since pre-2024 owners get a permanent discount.

Quick FAQ

The questions people actually ask.

Where's the "Workplace pension" field? I can't find it.
It's in Step 3 (Deductions), under the question "Do you contribute to a pension — workplace or private?". Tap Yes and it's the first of the two fields that appear. It's hidden until you tap Yes, like every conditional field in the tool.
Salary — gross or net? Yearly or monthly?
Enter your full gross (before any tax or pension). You can type it as yearly or monthly — the tool keeps both boxes in sync, so use whichever you know.
Do I have to fill in everything?
No. Only salary and municipality are needed. Every other question is off by default — tap Yes only for the ones that are you. Skipping a question just means "doesn't apply".
Why is the "effective rate" different from my tax card?
Your tax-card rate (trækprocent) is what your employer withholds. The effective rate here is your actual total tax divided by your total income — usually lower, because it accounts for your personal allowance and every deduction. They're measuring different things.
Is my data saved anywhere?
No. Everything runs inside your browser — nothing is uploaded, stored or sent to any server. Close the tab and it's gone. That's also why it works offline.
My spouse has their own income and deductions — how do I handle that?
Tick Married in Step 1 to model the joint rules. For a spouse with their own property, shares or deductions, open a second Nettoløn tab, fill it as them, and copy the relevant totals back. There's a link in the tool that sets this up. A fully combined spouse view is planned.
How accurate is it?
It's a careful estimate built on the official 2026 rates and checked against real SKAT statements — good enough to plan with and to sanity-check your forskudsopgørelse. It's not an official assessment or tax advice; always confirm on your own statement or with an adviser.
What's the forskudsopgørelse export for?
It hands you an Excel file with your numbers already sorted into the correct SKAT box numbers (rubrikker). You can line it up against your official advance statement to spot anything that looks off — no other free calculator does this.
Is it really free?
Yes, free for now. If it saved you a headache, there's a small optional way to say thanks — never required, and there's no paywall.
